Ahmed Isthiaq Mubarak (picture), former national record holder and athletics coach, is said to be not well.
According the Pelapis-Future Champions blog, a group from National Sports Council's Pelapis Division visited Isthiaq at his house in Kemensah, Hulu Kelang on Saturday.
According to the report, Isthiaq's health is not too good. The report did not specify as to what caused his healt to be affected.
Isthiaq has been asked to undergo medical tests at the National Sports Institute in Bukit Jalil.
As an athlete, Isthiaq was the star hurdler. His 13.8s (hand-timed) which he clocked during training in Germany in 1976 saw a breakthrough for the event with other hurdlers clocking better times subsequently.
Born 6 Feb 1948, Isthiaq represented Malaysia in three Olympics, the first in Mexico City in 1968. He also participated in the 1972 games in Munich and the 1976 event in Montreal.
In Montreal he qualified for the semi finals where he clocked 14.21s to be ranked eight.
