FA of England'ss beleaguered bid for the 2018 World Cup has received encouragement from one of FIFA's powerbrokers, Mohamed Hammam (picture, right with FIFA President, Sepp Blatter).
The President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rejected concerns raised by FIFA vice-president Jack Warner, whose attack on England's bid promoted last week's emergency reshuffle of the FA campaign.
Hammam said: 'Your bid is equivalent to other bidders. It's going in line with other bidders. I really don't see any one going aggressively ahead in the campaign; everyone is really working slowly. The way I see it the English are doing just as well as the other bidders.'
But he warned that excellent stadia and England's football history are not necessarily enough to win the campaign.
