Kelantan will set up a giant television screen at the Sultan Muhammed IV Stadium for football fans to watch the Malaysia Cup final match between Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan, which will be telecast live from the Bukit Jalil National Stadium Saturday.
Human Development, Youth, Sports and NGOs Committee Chairman Abdul Fatah Mahmood said the move was to give Kelantan football fans a chance to witness the final of the prestigious cup.
"This is the state government's social responsibility to uphold the sport. Between 2,000 and 3,000 people will be able to watch the game from the open area at the stadium," he told Bernama in Tanah Merah, Kelantan Friday.
Meanwhile, Abdul Fatah refuted claims that the state government was not interested in developing sports in the state.
He said that the state government would organise a sport carnival on Nov 13 and 14, involving more than 4,000 participants from throughout the country who would compete in more than 100 games.
Kelantan Football Association president Tan Sri Annuar Musa, in his speech when feting veteran Kelantan football players recently, claimed that the state government did not contribute anything to the association to develop football in the state.
