I m sure,the badminton players wanted to give their best,but failed.They are human,not machines.Even machines break down.
ReplyDeleteIn match against China,Lee Chong Wei was up against the world s top-rated player.Honestly, did you expect him to deliver a sure point for Malaysia?
Wong Choon Han & Hafiz Hashim are way past their prime.Don't blame them if they can't contribute now. B.A.M.(Datuk Nadzmi Salleh & his coaches/selecters)must take the blame for relying on them to deliver yet again.
The badminton players gave their analysis of what they believe affected their performance. They have made a point. Please take note of it.Apparantly, the press went overboard with relentless publicity & comments.
S.A.M. must not react as sour grapes & hold a grudge against the players for speaking their mind. This is being very immature on the part of S.A.M.,& a reflection of typical Malaysian mentality.
Before the Thomas Cup debacle & the players' analysis for their performance, the press gave a grand analysis of Malaysia's chances to win the Thomas Cup.Now,just because the players made a negative comment about the press, the press is saying the players are not good enough to win anything.
Also, did the players call for a press conference to air their views?Or,was it B.A.M.President Datuk Nadzmi Salleh?
Instead of taking the blame for the mess B.A.M.is in now,Datuk Nadzmi Salleh seems to be finding excuses, blaming the press/coaches/players,etc.
To quote Datuk Nadzmi Salleh,"I am a consensus guy and I want the council to support....although I don't really have to do so".When B.A.M.Secretary,P.Ganga Rao,wanted to resign,he asked him to stay. Then he sacked him, without any reason, through a press statement & without informing him first,or getting consensus from the council. The last we read was that P.Ganga Rao has still been asking for the reason for his sacking.
Datuk Nadzmi Salleh,if you have any self respect, leave B.A.M. now before you destroy badminton further.
I fully concur with Sports Observer views on Badminton. I think it is pointless to put the blame of the trainer and coaches or for that matter the players. We have seen it all , they are past their prime and the sad part isthere are no creditable 2nd liner.
ReplyDeleteHave you read the Grand Old man of OCM take on this issue. He blames it on the coaches, and we have some hot shot sports psychologist saying that the the players have low mental strength. All these may be true, they are part of the problem not the problem itself.
As for Nadzmi , what can I say about this corporate hot shot? Sacking your secretary with out giving him reasons, that speaksd volumes about his knowledge on corporate governance. I am sad to say he knows nuts about sports ethics and fair play.
