Here is an interesting report in the Olympic Council of Asia's website. The report gives a clear picture of what was earlier proposed as an Olympic Academy. For now I would not comment on this because I am busy planning a script for a movie. The title is "Dirty Old Men Will Travel".
The Olympic Council of Malaysia’s Executive Board has approved the expanded scope and structure of the National Olympic Academy of Malaysia.
With Prof. Dato’ Dr. Zakaria Ahmad as the first chairman of the NOA Board, the Academy aims to produce well-trained, highly-skilled officers and staff in the National Sports Associations.
Vision: To be a centre of excellence for sports education, training and human resources development in accordance with the ideals and aspirations of the Olympic movement and the values of Olympism.
Mission: To develop and nurture knowledgeable, skilled and ethical human resources for sports and the Olympic community through sports education and training. To develop and manage programmes and activities as well as provide resources, expertise and opportunities for individuals and sports organisations.
Aims: To design and monitor sports education and training programmes of the OCM. To provide opportunities for personal and organisational growth and development in sports management and related disciplines for members of the Olympic community and its associates.
Programmes: 1, National Olympic Academy programmes; 2, Core training courses (funded by Olympic Solidarity) in sports management, administration, leadership, coaching and medicine; 3, Elective and seasonal training courses in a variety of subjects such as venue and equipment management, sports science and sports law; 4, Seminars, conferences, conventions and exhibitions.
Meanwhile OCM has selected two women to attend a study tour in Japan, one from Table Tennis Association of Malaysia (TTAM) and Malaysian Ice Hockey Federation. The Study Tour Project for Leaders of Asian Youth Sports 2009 would be held from November 4-11, 2009.
P/s If you have ideas for the movie script, please let me know. Thanks.
Uncle Joe, When I read the Visi, Misi dan Aim, I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Even before Devali, they have started entertaining us with Devali jokes.
ReplyDeleteThe Vision to inculcate the "ideals and aspiration of Olympic Movements". OCM does not even understand the meaning of Olympism. Ask the Sec Gen of OCM DSKC, those clowns in the Board knows the nonsense that is going on but they choose to close both their eyes.
You don't have to go far, just do an audit of the Teams Going to the Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam . You will know that some of the athletes going to the Games are not based on merits but by patronage. You may ask patronise who? Of course la, the OCM board or the great DSKC. Those jokers do not even understand the meaning of Olympism or even if they do it is so distorted.
Oh! on the script " Dirty Old Men will Travel", if you need a sub script, just give me a holler, and I will give you facts and details of my allegations. You may choose to change your title to "Filty Old Men will Travel".
Prepared to meet you anywhere!
Joe, I don't really understand your joke about the movie thing but I'm guessing that it's about SKC and his konco konco la. Anyway...all the best with the script and if you need actors, you know where to get them. Haha....
ReplyDeleteThe expanded NOA looks so WOWing but the most important thing that is missing is Olympic Education. It doesn't say anywhere that it will spread Olympism. Looks like they are concentrating on developing sport managers, officials but nothing is said about the youth.
The vision of accordance to the values of Olympism is total crap when, like Mr. Olympism says they don't even understand the meaning of Olympism!
I'm so freaking mad at what is going on with the OCM. Its ideals have all gone haywire because of one old man.
Kudos to those who are the brains behind this expanded NOA... I hear that the old NOA was run and administered by unethical and corrupted bunch of people and these expanded new version will put things in order for OCM, as it's envisioned in it's Mission statement.
ReplyDeleteAll applaused to OCM! Clap! Clap! Clap!
To those naysayers...ethicality is not just to be spoken off but should be seen to do. If you continued to speak without discourse and your actions is the opposite of the spoken word... you are as unethical and corrupt as those you accused!
I would not be judging you for that when you time is up...I let that to the One who created us. One way or another, we all going to die... remember that.
who are you kidding mus be new in sports. the movie, is it about 2 old men who travel with companions to represents malaysia. if so, i can provide some ideas.
ReplyDeletehelo anonymous...since when old men can't travel with companions? Is it a crime for them to do that...
ReplyDeletehey old anon,
ReplyDeletei did not know that immorality is an olympic virtue. or, is it ok in malaysian sports?
Look I think you chaps Anon and "who are we kidding" are missing the point altogether. So if the DOM wants to travel with his girlfriend and pay for her tickets whats so wrong about that? After all the rooms and food are all paid for in any event.
ReplyDeleteThe point is not on morality, the point is whether OCM funds are being used to give the DOM companion a subsidised holiday using OCM funds.
Look DOM might as well enjoy himself as long as he can.
Ooooh...do u mean that OCM's money is used for immoral activities by these so called custodian of Olympic virtues?
ReplyDeleteWell, if they can enjoy the money while it last...let it be! who really cares???
just a point of view after looking at the writeup on the programmes about that the advance Olympic Academy. It will be similar to any other seminars set up by the OCM whereby the paricipants will have no interaction and no fun. I thought the it is fun form of learning about Olympisim but as usual person or persons in OCM will make the sessions accordingly to what they feel. Well its nothing new as the Olympisim spirit is not being practised. The attitude of the sec gen is kill, kill and kill. this is because he is not having any intention to retirem
ReplyDeleteat all. So what are they promoting Olympisim for?
About the dirty old men stories alot can be said about it and if you need more infos shout out and I can gurantee that alot of stories can be gotten from a lot of people.
The problem is not only the DOM but the whole Board of OCM is at stake starting from the President. The antics of the DOM is well recorded and tabulated.
ReplyDeleteI have knowledge that in the Asian Indoor Games some of the athletes are selected based not on their merits but by their close association with the Sec Gen. That makes him a DOM. Now how can this happen and who do we blame it on?
The answer is quite obvious, the whole Board must collectively answer to his action for he as Sec Gen acts in the name of OCM.
Olympism and sportsmanship is like a pea in a pod. Looming over it is "fair play" no pun intended Uncle Joe.
What your readers cannot stomach is the hypocricy of OCM with its mission,Vision and aim statement. Some of the members of the Board are good men and women, but if you know a wrong has been committed and you chose to close your eyes and not do anything, you are just as guilty as that DOM.
Members of the Board, if you are true Olympian and subscribe to Olympism and the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, resign from the Board and state your displeasure.
Some of you may say as a Board you act collectively, but if a wrong has been committed agaist the spirit of Sportmanship and fair play, you will not be faulted if you break ranks.
Helo Mr. Olympism, whether the good ppl of OCM Board wants to resign or not in regards of the actions of Sec Gen, is not for any of us to say.
ReplyDeleteLet it fall to them to do the right or wrong actions. As most of them are elected. They must do it on their own free will and not becos you or anyone say so.
The old man ... oooops the Sec Gen is trying it's best for what he thinks is the right path that the Olympic Academy to go and let it. If he's interested to bring it to the old foggies at the NSAs...let him do it, perhaps they (NSAs) could learn some new tricks but I doubt it (old dogs don't really learn anything).
The NSAs are not into fun and games ... ermmmm perhaps a different fun and games they are more interested in but that's besides the point here.
Let Olympic Academy proves its worth in sand and show not to the distractors but to the good people heading it and working to bring the learning of Olympism to the NSAs and / or general public.
