Karim blames NSC

The Malaysia Amateur Athletic Union (MAAU) has denied responsibility for late registration of 400m hurdler Noraseela Khalid to Guangzhou Asian Games.

MAAU deputy president Karim Ibrahim instead blamed the National Sports Council (NSC) for the delay as MAAU had sent Noraseela's accreditation to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) on June 20.

Newspapers reported that MAAU had failed to register Noraseela for Guangzhou Asian Games before the closing date on Nov 2.

"I am disappointed with NSC director-general Datuk Zolkples Embong for blaming MAAU and not offering to help," he told Bernama at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil Monday.

Karim said he has confidence in Doha Asian Games bronze medalist Noraseela and five other athletes going to Guangzhou under category B. The names of five other athletes bound for Guangzhou under category B have yet to be announced.

Athletes under category A are Roslinda Samsu (pole vault) Lee Hup Wei (high jump) and the women's 4x100m quartet of Siti Zubaidah Adabi, Norjannah Hafiszah Jamaludin, Nurul Sarah Abdul Kadir and Yee Yi Ling.

  1. Karim Ibrahim, I think your prejudice against NSC Datuk Zul Embong is showing too much. Please understand one thing only OCM can send the Team to Asian Games, read the Sports Development Act and the OCA constitution. Likewise all the NSC athletes have to go through OCM to get their accreditation cards issued.
This category A & B shit are all started by OCM who in their opinion are medal or non medal prospect. To OCM that is the way they think sports can be promoted, which is a load of rubbish because those who are prepared to go on their own are prevented by OCM because they think they are not good enough or their selection is unfair. Classic case in point is the Western Pacific Dragon Boat Team who are incidentally sponsored by the Penang state Government. The Old man in OCM told the Dragon boat team to literally go fly kite. Take note that Dragon Boat is held for the 1st time in the Asian Games, so you cannot possibly have a track record.Further what does OCM knows about Dragon Boat races and the sport when the old man does not even know the difference between a sampan and a dragon boat.
My point is this, why blame Datuk Zul when he is not involved in doing the accreditation.
Newspaper report also is wrong, MAAU, En Karim is your baby, it is you who should ensure your team are properly accredited not NSC, they do not have special powers to over ride OCM,
