Malaysia freeze in Tashkent

A double from the prolific Sutee Suksomkit gave Thailand a well-deserved 3-1 win over Singapore in a Group E tie of the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers that was played at the National Stadium.

It was Thailand’s first win in their campaign following the two scoreless draws in their first two matches against Iran and Jordan.

Sutee found the net in either half of an exhilarating encounter with goals in the 12th and 81st minute and Therdsak Chaiman’s 75th minute strike sandwiched in between.

Therdsak is just making a return to the national side now under the guidance of former England captain Bryan Robson.

Singapore’s only goal of the game came off Mustafic Fahrudin six minutes to the end.

Malaysia conceded a 3-1 loss to Uzbekistan in a match was played under freezing conditions in Tashkent. The score at the half was 0-0.

The hosts took the lead just a minute into the second half off Djeparov Server before Geynrikh Alexander grabbed a brace with goals in the 57th and 65th minute.

The Malaysians scored their only goal of the game off Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak in the 68th minute before losing defender Mohd Nashriq Baharom five minutes to the end. -AFF.
